In September, I wrote that Donald Trump had grand plans to build a golf megaplex on the Scottish coastline, and shockingly, some of the locals weren't jazzed about the idea. At the time, the project was green-lighted on the grounds that "the social and economic advantages outweigh[ed] the environmental drawbacks."
Apparently, the important folks who make such decisions have reconsidered, because now a Scottish council rejected Trump's plans to throw up golf's version of Wally World at the home of the sport. The Hair, understandably, wasn't happy about the news:
"Mr. Trump is shocked, extremely disappointed and dismayed at this decision," said George Sorial, managing director of Trump International Golf Resorts. "This is certainly not something we expected."Somehow, someway, I suspect Trump will manage. Opponents of the development pointed to the potential destruction of wildlife habitats if the project moved forward. Now Trump will look to pimp his golf emporium somewhere else in Europe, possibly Ireland. Lucky charms, my ass.
