Apparently, Boo Weekley Isn't Smarter Than He Looks

You know, I figured Boo Weekley was putting on the act. Like Larry the Cable Guy or something. Apparently, he just isn't very smart. Last year, he had trouble counting to 74, and this week, he continues his assault on common sense and reason.

Playing in his first Masters, Weekley, earlier this week, called Augusta National "just another golf course," and when asked about Amen Corner, he offered this: "I couldn't tell you which holes they were. I just go out and play, and figure out the names later I reckon."

ESPN's Jason Sobel has more Boo-isms (via Augusta.com and Dogs that Chase Cars):
"[Just missing an eagle putt at par-5 No. 15] didn't frustrate me. I actually just pushed that putt a little bit. I thought it was a par-4, to tell you the truth. I didn't know it was a par-5.

"What's Amen Corner? Why is that a corner? It should be 12, 13 and 14, shouldn't it? There you go. You got me."
As Sobel rightly points out, yeah, No. 15 is a par-5. And if you win the tournament you get a green jacket too. Maybe this shouldn't be all that surprising; I mean, this is the same guy who for the longest time could only wear tennis shoes and track pants on the course because of a foot condition and a cotton allergy (or something equally as bizarre).

Sure, Weekley's a professional golfer playing in arguably the most prestigious tournament on the planet, and maybe he should know at least one thing about Augusta National. Then again, maybe such things don't matter; through two rounds, Weekley's at 2-over, tied for 34th. And unlike eight past champions (at least as of this writing), he's probably going to make the cut. Weird.
