90 Holes Not Enough: Tiger Woods, Rocco Mediate Head to Sudden Death at U.S. Open

Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate played 18 holes of playoff golf today at Torrey Pines, and they haven't settled anything. Through five rounds of the U.S. Open, Woods and Mediate are all tied up, and they're now heading into a sudden-death playoff.

Mediate appeared poised to pull off the upset, leading by a stroke heading into the 18th, but he missed an opportunity when his tee shot went into the bunker. When Woods birdied the 18th hole and Mediate missed his birdie putt, they went to sudden death for just the third time in U.S. Open history.

Sudden death starts on the seventh, and you can follow along at the FanHouse live blog.
