Charles Barkley on Golf: 'My Game Is a Blog'

Deadspin's Rick Chandler spent the weekend in Tahoe, skinny-dipping with Jessica Simpson live-blogging Charles Barkley's golf outing for NBC Sports. Naturally, quotes ensued. Specifically following Chuck's distraught admission that he knows not what a blog is. But he thinks it sounds pretty repulsive, so he told reporters inquiring about his on-course abilities that "my game is a blog". Rick, naturally, decided to find out why.
ME: "What did you mean by 'My game is like a blog?'

BARKLEY: "When I talked with you on Thursday, and you said your were blogging my rounds, I didn't know what that was. What's a 'blog?' It sounds awful."

(Note: Barkley is not kidding here.)

BARKLEY: "So when they asked me on television how to describe my golf game, I told them 'My game is like a blog.' Because I don't know what a blog is, but it don't sound good."
In fairness to Charles, no, the term "blog" is not beautiful. But in fairness to blogs, how the ____ can you not know what one is at this stage in the game. Everyone does. That would be like one of our Presidential candidates admitting he doesn't know how to use email. Oh. Crap.

Still though, Chuck, it's kind of awkward. We -- blogs -- are your biggest fans (and frankly, we're a little insulted given the state of your golf game). We nurture and cherish you. Except for that whole "never gamble again" thing. Or when you said it was tougher to be black in Philly. Or the time you said to shoot all the paparazzi. Or, well, you get the point. We love you for who you are. Don't change. Just learn what a blog is. Or don't. Whatever.
