Earlier this week when Padraig Harrington was still worried about his hurt wrist, he had this to say about parting ways with the Claret Jug on Sunday."Hopefully when I get it back on Sunday night, it'll be in a little tighter box so I can bring it with me everywhere on airplanes."The confident "when" is becoming more and more of a reality as Harrington shot a two-under 68 today to move within two of ageless Greg Norman.
Padraig holed out a bunker shot on the second hole for birdie, and finished eagle-birdie on 17 and 18 to sit in a tie for fifth place. With the wrist a concern all week, Harrington raised some eyebrows when he grabbed it after going after his second shot on the 11th hole.
After the round, Paddy talked to Jim Huber about all that was his 68.
"It was a different day, a different finish, and the eagle-birdie finish was sweet," he said. "(Speaking of the wrist) I got a really bad lie on 11, it finished on the side of the hill and I had a go at it, but it more of a reaction than it was pain. It's only a sprain, so I can't hurt it more in terms of the rest of the season."With a leaderboard that could have only been predicted by Marty McFly, Harrington is in perfect position to defend his title from Carnoustie a year ago. If nothing else, it gives everyone a chance to hear his awesome accent in interviews for two more days.
