The PGA of America just announced that play will be suspended for the day at Oakland Hills because supposedly, and correct me if I'm wrong, it's hard to play golf when the greens look like an above ground swimming pool.
Tomorrow at 7:15 AM Eastern sharp, the golfers will be at their balls and ready to go.
At first glance, Andres Romero, who shot the best round of the week by two shots with his five-under 65 and vaulted up the leaderboard 40 spots to a tie for eighth looked to be the happiest person in the world. That might not be the case, however, as the course will now have soaked fairways and saturated greens, lowering the scores for Sunday.
A tournament that looked like it might hover around even par to win has just changed outfits and a 65 might be out there for some of the leaders.
Eight golfers have yet to even hit their first tee shot, with guys like Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson still a ton of golf to finish up tomorrow. This tournament will not conclude until Monday as long as the weather stays away for the next two days, so the marathon day tomorrow should be exciting to watch. Maybe the only treat from all of this was getting to watch Tiger Woods, pre-biceps, fight the petit Bob May (who, ironically, is in the hunt in the Nationwide event this week) in the 2000 PGA Championship, one of the only times ever that Tiger was the one that had to make the putt to continue playing.
Chatting with our official golf coach and club cleaner, Ryan Wilson, it was decided that Tiger running after his putt on the 16th hole of the playoff ranks a 9.6 on the dork scale, only eclipsed by snorting when laughing or spilling your drink on a girl you're talking to that is way out of your league.

Third-round play in the 90th PGA Championship has been suspended for the day and will resume on Sunday morning at 7:15 AM. All players currently on the course will return to their spots and complete the third round. The final three pairings, which did not start play on Saturday, will play at the following times:
7:20 David Toms, Henrik Stenson
7:30 Ben Curtis, Justin Rose
7:40 J.B. Holmes, Charlie Wi
The third round is expected to be complete by 11:50 a.m. At that point, players will be re-paired for the final round in threesomes, teeing off of Nos. 1 and 10. Final-round tee times will run between 12:20-2:20 p.m. [/i]

First - I can only agree that the reaction to the putt on #16 of the 2000 PGA was "awkward."
Second, do you know what the ratings were for the replay of the 2000 PGA? Wouldn't it be sad if they were as good or better than today's final round?
