He might not have been getting it going on the golf course, but the knee seems to be fine for other activities.
DNA champion Tiger Woods announced on his website today that he and his wife Elin are expecting a second child in late-winter. Woods and Elin were married in October of 2004 and will toss the new baby, no sex yet determined, into the mix with 1-year-old Sam.
"Elin is feeling great, and we are both thrilled," Tiger said. "While my injury has been disappointing and frustrating, it has allowed me to spend a lot of time watching Sam grow. I can't begin to tell you how rewarding it is being a dad and spending time with her and Elin. The injury has been a blessing and a disappointment."Most parents hope to mix it up, but I can't imagine the expectations and press that will come about if this kid is a boy. How soon until he is swinging a cut-down 5-iron on David Letterman? The elephant in the room on this is what all of these changes will do to Tiger's commitment to golf. Even in that quote above you see that he's still focused on the game, but with two kids now around the house and a knee that will be in question until his first victory, golf might soon cede priority in his life. It is great news for the Woods family and probably Nike (?) but for golf fans it's just another indication that we won't have Woods around all our lives.
Nonetheless, congrats to Tiger and Elin, hopefully the next kiddo will be just as cute as the first.
