The reason Johnny Miller is still in the booth for most golf broadcasts is because he can make a non-issue a huge issue in about three words. He's upset Tiger Woods, called Rocco Mediate a "pool boy" and now is questioning the U.S. Ryder Cup picks days before the matches get underway.Miller said yesterday he thinks Paul Azinger should have bypassed rookie J.B. Holmes, who will be playing in his home state of Kentucky and might very well be the perfect match-play partner with his long drives and streaky putting, for a more veteran player like Scott Verplank. Yeah, Verplank, who has been a good player in his two events but has never been on a winning team. Actually, he's never even been close to a winning team.
"I certainly wouldn't have gone with J.B. Holmes, I tell you that," Miller said yesterday in Louisville, Ky., where the Ryder Cup gets underway Friday.
Miller said he would have chosen Verplank, Mediate, Brandt Snedeker and 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson over Holmes and Campbell, but agreed that his views are like arguing over favorite ice cream flavors.
You know, Miller was an amazing PGA Tour golfer in his heyday with a decent Cup record of 2-2-2, but this is just ridiculous. You want to trade out a rookie that will draw huge American support for Mediate (never played in a Ryder Cup), Snedeker (ditto) or Johnson (1-1-1 in '06)?
Mediate hasn't finished better than a t-18 since his U.S. Open performance, and only has one other top-10 all year besides Torrey Pines. Snedeker hasn't had a top-24 since the middle of June, missing three cuts in the meantime. On top of that, Johnson is having an extreme sophomore slump year after his Masters win in '07, currently 131st on the FedEx Cup list with a whopping ONE top-10 all season, back in March.

Won't ever happen. He is too shunned by American golfers. They would sooner go with Rory Sabbatini as captain than Johnny Miller. Miller better hopes he never loses his cushy job at NBC, although I predict he will go too far one of these days and get his sorry butt fired.
Don, the talent isn't evenly matched. Actually, the Europeans have a huge advantage. It is no longer an upset if Europe wins, it is an upset if the United states wins. Without Tiger, it is gonna be a blowout. Expect the ratings to be low on Sunday because it is going to be over on Saturday aftenoon. Europe could put up 20 points.
Johnny is right and if any of you watch golf you would know that. Has any of the US players been consistant this year? Its not looking to good? Rocco will be blown away
So Johnny brought up Zach Johnson's name? The guy who's missed 16 of 21 cuts this year? So he's good because Johnny's eyes tell him he's good? The results are lying?

The fog of time has caused Johnny boy to think he made all those six footers. He is vastly over critical of most of the PGA players and that is why he is not welcome in any locker room.
His opinions are just what pops out of his head and hardly ever reflect golf wisdom. J B Holmes is not losing any sleep over Miller's opinion of him.
Johnny Miller is in the Hall of Fame. He palyed his way there. He is now a "commentator." Let him commentate. Thats what he gets the big bucks for. If you donj't agree with his comments, do you think he cares?

Who cares? The Ryder Cup is just another commercialized and overblown sporting event. Without Tiger,it is definitely not worth watching.

and believe me Miller wished he had been. So many has-beens think they are capable of picking players and that is why J.B. Holmes is on the Ryder Cup team and after today-WHO CARES WHAT JOHNNY WHO HAS TO SAY!
I HATE Miller, and wish his snide, self-centered, holier-than-thou mouth would just shut the hell UP already! He is the WORST 'color analyst' on TV and makes me cringe everytime he opens his opinionated mouth. Augusta National banned Gary McCord from ever doing broadcasts there again because of the SAME type of crap Miller engages in. How I WISH Miller could just go do Tennis or Bowling and stay OFF TV Golf.
AMEN! I can't wait for the day when Miller goes too far with a comment (like Ben Wright) and gets his arrogant butt fired and banned from golf for life. It will happen one day.
