The following video is of James Foley, a manager of Outback Steakhouse in Garner, North Carolina. This particular video, found by Bitter Humor, is particularly interesting for several reasons. First of all, James is now a millionaire. That's because the shot that he hit was in an Outback Charity Golf Challenge of some sorts, and whoever hit a hole in one wins a million dollars. I'm sure his employer is reeeeally happy with him right now.
It is also fascinating because I went to high school with Mr. Foley. Watch closely as he practices what I taught him on the links.
And yeah, the video is like a month old but sometimes people (ahem, BH) forget to forward along insane links to videos to their friends. A tip of the cap to you, James. Spend the money wisely*.
*Yes, I mean go to Las Vegas.

How exactly is this a hole in one when they aren't on a tee box. They are obviously in the middle of the fairway. A great shot no doubt, but not a real hole in one! And cutting a par 4 to make a par 3 for tournament sakes doesn't count.

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned that Outback took a par 4 and set it up to 160 yards and a hole in one wins a million bucks.
So, no, James did not make a "hole in one" but, yes, he did win a "million dollars".

Outback purchased an insurance policy for this event, so the insurance company is out the money. Outback, I'm sure, is thrilled with the publicity.

OK, if I understand this correctly, a par 4 hole was shortened and it was predetermined to make it a par 3 hole. The guy puts it in the cup with one shot (one swing of the club).
He put it in the "hole in one" shot. .... on that particular hole.
How can anyone call it anything other than "a hole in one" ?
