Boo Weekley Has a Way With Words

I like Boo Weekley. I think he's good for golf in much the same way John Daly was in the early '90s before beer-soaked Twinkies took over his life. Boo's Al Czervik to the PGA Tour's Judge Smails except he's not acting. What you see is what you get. He's Larry the Cable Guy without the shtick.

Which is why this makes perfect sense.

in an interview with The Golf Channel, discussing his trip to the White House as part of the Ryder Cup team, Weekley refers to George W. Bush as the "late president," calls the the AT & T National -- Tiger Woods' Washington, DC-area tournament -- "Tiger's deal up there in Congressional or whatever," and poses this delightful question: "what's that thing that what's his name crawled out from under?" The answer: the president's desk, and John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Added bonus: video footage of Weekley riding his driver like a bucking bronco across the putting green shortly after the United States team had captured the Cup. In the usually staid setting, the spectacle somehow seemed fitting -- and weirder, genuine.
