Trust me, if you've never heard of Brendan Jones until this week, you're far from alone. He is the poor soul that will be going up against Tiger Woods in the first round of the Accenture Match Play. Jones obviously has his work cut out for him.Jones is a ripe 33 years old and has played on the PGA Tour before, but for only one season. In 2005, Jones was a full-time member with the big boys, making only 14 or 28 cuts, with a single top-10 finish at the B.C. Open, a tournament Tiger Woods wouldn't sniff if it was the last competition on Earth.
What else should you know about the Australian?
Well, he was basically the Tiger Woods of the Japan Tour for a number of years, winning eight times in a span of six years, including three wins in '07. When Jones gets hot, he is a nice sunny day on Mercury. In 2004, Jones played in eight Nationwide Tour events, winning one and finishing in the top 10 in four others, accumulating almost $300,000 of winnings during that short span.
His record on the PGA Tour hasn't been awful. He's made the cut in 46 percent of his tournaments, a respectable number, and he won't be intimidated off the tee against Tiger, as Jones averaged 307 yards per smack last season. Your good and bad qualities in your own golf game normally go out the window when Woods shakes your hand on the first tee, however.
So does Jones have a chance? Well, he's never won a match at the Accenture, losing in the first round last year in his first appearance to Adam Scott. Like anyone that knows anything about match play could tell you, it is a different beast entirely, and if Tiger comes out a little rusty after eight months away from tournament golf, and he can catch fire early, Jones might be able to take down the returning champion.
Either that or Jones will get smoked. I guess time will soon tell, and if you're working, stop by here because we will be live blogging Tiger's entire first round.

Hey Shane, don't forget to s*ck Tiger's c*ck after each live blog. You obviously worship the man. I say he gets beat in round one or two.

I predict Woods winning by no more than 2up or 1up over Jones as I think he may struggle with some putts.
He'll have a much harder test in in Round#2 versus either Tim Clark or Retief Goosen -the latter of which has to be a favourite, even if he IS seeded 9th behind Clark's 8th.
Whatever goes down, can't wait to watch this tournament. Love the match play!
