Tiger Is Ready for Doral

Not often does Tiger Woods toss around negative sound bites about himself. It seems most of the time it is always "I did this well here" or "I played solid there." Maybe the positive mentality is what separates him from everybody else.

Heading into Thursday's round at the WGC-CA Championship, his first stroke-play event in eight months, Woods was again positive of what has been and what is to come, sounding upbeat about his time in Arizona.
"It was a big shot of confidence for me to get out there and play again and feel physically sound," Woods said. "To walk out there and play and then compete and get a feel for that competitive environment was everything I could possibly have imagined."
That's the thing for Woods. He's such a physical beast and mental freak, that while he claimed he could win the Accenture, it was almost more a test to see how everything would work. Now, he seems to be comfortable physically with the knee and that could mean doom for all those other golfers.
"It was actually better than I thought," Woods said Wednesday at Doral Golf Resort, where he played an early morning practice round with Mike Weir. "I thought I would be a little more sore than I was. Recovery from day-to-day has been great. It couldn't have been more positive, except for obviously getting beat in the second round. But from a physical standpoint, it was better than I thought it would be."
So now comes the Blue Monster, where Woods has won three times in his career. He mentioned that Doral "fits his eye" and that, of all the things Tiger says, is far from an exaggeration.

The event will host every golfer ranked in the top 50 in the world, and Woods is one of those rare athletes who seems to play his best when the competition is at its peak.

At the Accenture, I didn't think Tiger could win. This week, I do.
