John Daly Wants to 'Get Down to 190'

John Daly is in Augusta this week, but Washington Road is as close as he's getting to Augusta National. Currently serving a six-month suspension from the PGA Tour fueled by an unhealthy love for beer and hot wings, Daly is in town hawking a bunch of junk with his name on it. (Hey, that plane ticket to Spain isn't going to pay for itself.)

Between the sales pitches, Big John squeezed in a radio interview that touched on familiar topics: regrets, future plans, gambling, and this hard-to-believe tidbit: JD hopes to "get down to 190 by the end of the year." That's 190 pounds, I'm assuming. Already 40 pounds lighter (at least to hear him tell it), I suppose breaking two bills is realistic. Plus, it'll virtually guarantee Seth Rogen will now play Daly in the big screen adaptation of "My Exes Wear Rolexes."

John also confirms that he'll be playing in Europe till the end of May but hopes to "get in Colonial and come back and play." As for who JD likes this week, he's a little more adventurous than the rest of us:
"I haven't seen any scores today but my dark horse is my buddy Pat Perez and I think Tiger – you can't rule Tiger and Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh out. Vijay's kind of had an off year and I think he's going to play well this week."
Perez is currently 4-over, 13 shots off the lead, followed by Phil (1-over), Vijay (1-under), and Tiger (2-under). On the upside, the losers will get a commemorative "I went to the Masters and all I got was this lousy 'Grip It and Rip It' mug." In that sense, everybody's a winner.
