The year 1999 was a long time ago. Justin Timberlake was a guy in a band called 'N Sync. People were buying bottled water and canned goods in fear of something called Y2K. Oh, and it was probably the last time Sergio Garcia was popular, when he battled Tiger Woods at the PGA Championship, falling just short but touching golf fans everywhere. Now, Garcia just continues to rub people the wrong way. He waggled his way around Bethpage Black at the U.S. Open in 2002. He spit in a cup after a missed putt in the 2007 Doral Open. He blamed anyone and everyone for his loss in the 2007 British Open. Now? Sergio let Augusta National, golf's sanctuary, have it, lashing out about the course conditions, saying, "I don't like it, to tell you the truth. I don't think it's fair, and, you know, it's just too tricky."
Follow me after the jump for full video of Garcia's ridiculous rant.
Sergio, ranked No. 3 in the world before the Masters, said before the tournament that it would be nice to win a major but he wasn't expecting much this week. That came just before the Masters started, when Garcia decided to switch putters, something that seemed odd considering Augusta National probably has the hardest greens to navigate in the world.
On top of all that, Garcia actually looked good his first two rounds, shooting 73-67 before falling on the weekend with rounds of 75-74 to finish tied for 38.
It seems that Sergio has had a lot of growing up to do for a while, but he isn't a kid anymore, even if he tends to act like one. Garcia will be 30 when he gets another shot at Augusta National. It would be nice if he acted like it.

Did anyone also see his reaction after the ball hit the flag on number 16 (it might have been Saturday or Friday). He acted disgusted because it ended up about 15 feet away, and went as far as pointing to another golfer saying it would have dropped down but it bounced away in his case. Seriously, AK47 and Rory have more class that he does.

Sergio is a punk. Next to Spanish greats Ballasteros, and Olazabal, he's an embarrassment. You're 29 sergio, and I have as many majors as you do. Grow up, or go away..

Poor Sergio. Augusta was just not set up correctly for his, and only his game. The guy is #3 in the world with out any major wins to his credit. He must only be playing the easier tournament golf courses. "Oooh there was mud on my ball". You are a professional Sergio who should know how to compensate for such problems. Then to top it off (most likely) some one else with some clout probably wrote that apology for him , and then made him issue it.... Augusta officials should tell him he is not welcome there next year. Yep, poor Sergio, and all that male cow fecal matter he lets come out of his mouth. The funny part is, he has the same poor attitude as few other PGA Pros who can't play well on those tougher courses. A decent paycheck with endorsements is good enough for their whiny butts. Patch
