Twelve days after Phil Mickelson made the announcement that his wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer and he'd be taking an indefinite leave of absence, Lefty is planning his return to the PGA Tour.Next week's St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn., will give Phil one tournament to prepare before heading up to Bethpage Black for the U.S. Open, where he finished alone in second place behind Tiger Woods in 2002.
News on Amy Mickelson's breast cancer have been very positive so far, with Phil admitting that the cancer was caught early enough to give the family hope. Phil and Amy have been the talk of the golf world the last two weeks, with most of the support peaking on Saturday at the Colonial (and event Mickelson had previously committed to playing) when players and fans alike were part of a "Pink Out" to support Amy and raise awareness for breast cancer.
Phil has always been one that liked to play the week before a major, and though the recent news rattled his schedule, he is sticking to his guns.

The thing I like about golfers is that Golf donates more to charities then all other sports combined. I hope he does well & I hope his wife is back to feeling great soon.

Good luck Phil! Too you and also especially to your wife.
You're at the stage of your golfing career that if you don't get "the tiger" of your shoulder, it's not going to happen. If you play some of your best golf in the next six months and with Tiger somewhat below par, you have a chance to become the #1 golfer in the world. You may remain there for a while, because personally I don't think Tiger will ever regain his prowess. He still will be very good but not dominating as he has been over the years.

In the interest of full disclosure, I admit that I don't like Phil. Never have, never will. In my opinion, he is a complete phony. I truly believe that he is taking advantage of everyone's pity at the expense of his wife. Poor Phil. If he wins, it will be because of his incredible courage and if he loses, it will be because he was just thinking about Amy. Bull crap. Having ranted on, I truly wish Amy a full and speedy recovery. She is the only member of the family with any balls (other than Callaways)

Hey Ed,
Do you have ANY friends? As a guy who enjoys seeing how a fool's mind works, can you explain to all of us why you think Phil is a "phony?" My guess is you won't explain yourself.

Hey "Big Ed!"...It should be Big Dickhead! Phil's got more class in his little toe, than you have in that miserable body (mind) of yours.
