The argument has been tossed around since Tiger Woods fist-pumped his way to a 12-shot victory at Augusta National in 1997. Who is the best golfer to ever play the game, Tiger or Jack Nicklaus? We aren't necessarily going to get the answer this Wednesday at Muirfield Village, but we will get to see Tiger and Jack compete against each other for just the second time ever in the same group. Woods agreed to compete in the Wednesday Skins Game at the Memorial Tournament with Jack, Stewart Cink and Kenny Perry. The other skins group will include Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Camilo Villegas and Padraig Harrington.
Tiger and Jack played together at the 2000 PGA Championship, and Woods went on to win that event, so maybe Nicklaus and his 18 majors will be the boost to get Tiger going. If nothing more, it will give everyone the perfect example of why golf is the best sport in the world. What other sport do you get to see the best golfer of his generation and the best golfer in this generation go out and legitimately compete?

The end of the article says it best! Each was the best of their generation and since they never competed against each other in their primes, you will never know who is the greatest! Different times with different equipment against different players. It's like Ali, Marciano and Louis! Never fought each other so you will never know!

If anything, it shows that it's not a sport, let alone a great one. Any competition in which two people separated by nearly two generations can "legitimately complete" and one of those people is approaching the current life expectancy age, cannot be a serious sport.

They will be able to "legitiamtely compete" if Jack is allowed to play from the senior tee boxes.

I think the look of respect in Tiger's face every time he is near Palmer or Jack says it all. Golf has a gentlemanly respect that no other sport boasts.
