No Rest For Tiger, Monday Practice Round at Bethpage Black

You'd think even Tiger Woods, renowned grinder and practice nut, would take a day off after he scorched Muirfield Village on Sunday on his way to his fourth win at the Memorial, but you, sir, would be wrong.

On Monday, Tiger and swing coach Hank Haney took a quick trip from Ohio to New York for a practice round at Bethpage Black, host of the U.S. Open in two weeks and site of Tiger's 2nd U.S. Open victory. The course that some claim is the toughest test of golf has been lengthened to 7,426 yards and will play a touch different than when it hosted it's inaugural U.S. Open.

Tiger, with coach Haney, played 18 holes while golfers from some of the other Bethpage courses headed over to snatch some photos and hope to get a glimpse of Woods.

Fresh off a Sunday 65 that included closing birdies on 17 and 18 to secure the one-shot victory over Jim Furyk, Tiger is the favorite heading into Bethpage. Woods will not be in the field at this week's St. Jude Championship, but looks like there is no time to rest for the 14-time major championship winner.

Also, it's worth noting that Tiger can do this now, unlike past years when his knee would give him so much trouble that he'd have to rest it after rounds. If Woods can drive the ball at Bethpage like he did at the Memorial, his 15th major will be right around the corner.
