I lost interest in the Wegmans LPGA event after Cheyenne Woods missed the cut and Michelle Wie posted a third-round 75 to take herself out of contention. Jiyai Shin went on to win by seven strokes, pushing her 2009 earnings over $1 million, and cementing her Rookie of the Year bid. But Stacy Lewis and Morgan Pressel were three shots behind Shin, the tournament leader, heading into Sunday, only to card a 74 and 78, respectively.
After the round, Pressel fired up the Twitter machine: "Trying to dry out the water-logged golf bag. Will never understand why we didn't tee off earlier when they knew the weather."
As did Lewis: "Question of the day: Why didn't we tee off earlier?"

With a 40% chance of rain forecast for Sunday afternoon, I was a little surprised that the tee times weren't moved up (the last group went off at 12:30). Sure enough, the final pairings were forced to play their entire back nines in rainy conditions and the poor play made for some pretty awful TV. I'm not sure anybody would have caught Shin otherwise (although the tough conditions would have made it more likely for Jiyai to blow up) but we'll never know for sure.And Waggle Room points out that ESPN's television coverage was tape-delayed anyway, so it wasn't like the LPGA was contractually obligated to have women on the course at a specific time for live teevee.
On the upside, LPGA Tour players are embracing Twitter, just not quite like commissioner Carolyn Bivens drew it up.*
* Bivens later claimed her comments were taken out of context. Because, you know, it's really easy to misconstrue, "I'd love it if players Twittered during the middle of a round."
