Just like we did with Augusta and Bethpage Black we present your Favorites for the British Open. Turnberry is hosting its first Open Championship since 1994, and most players have never played a competitive round at the beautiful course on the west coast of Scotland. So who are the Favorites to win the British? Here are the top five.

Martin Kaymer
-- Best Finish: 80 -- He's only 24, but has won four times on the European Tour since January of 2008, including two in a row heading into the British. While his major championship record is slim at this point, you can't discard his results in the short period of time he's been out there. Other than the last guy on this list, he's bringing the best 2009 resume to Turnberry.

Paul Casey -- t-7 -- Casey has won twice on the European Tour this season and once on the PGA Tour, and is sneaking up on what Sergio Garcia once said was his goal -- to lead both the European Tour and PGA Tour money lists in the same year (Casey is first in Europe, 11th in the States). People were wondering when he would play well at the Open, which happened last year when he carded his first top-10 at Royal Birkdale. One of the few in the field that has enough talent to make up for an average week of ball-striking, if Casey's putter gets hot, he is downright scary.

Ian Poulter
-- 2 -- Mr. Twitter himself is enjoying yet another solid year, and might still be riding the high we saw from a clutch putt on the 18th at the British last year (that some, clears throat, thought would mean more than it did) and the incredible play he brought to a losing effort at the Ryder Cup. Poulter now has second place finishes at the Open and the Players Championship in less than a year, so he should be ready for anything Turnberry can throw at him.

Adam Scott
-- t-8 -- A month ago you couldn't have paid me to include Scott in my picks to win the British, but talent like his only needs a small tweak here or there to get it going. If you can believe this, Scott missed six straight cuts earlier this season on the PGA Tour, but played decently at the U.S. Open and finished tied for fourth last week at the Scottish Open after a final round 66.

Tiger Woods
-- WON -- Need even more reasons why he's the favorite? Here we go. He's the best golfer ever and is hungry to win a major. It's the first time since 2004 he hasn't owned one of the major championship trophies. The last time he teed it up at a British Open venue he'd never seen before tournament week, he won (Royal Liverpool). He has three wins this year and is playing a course that only legends have won on (Nick Price, Greg Norman, Tom Watson). His golf swing looks to be as controlled as it has evern been, which is scary for just about anyone in the field. Oh, and he's won 14 majors. Yeah, that about wraps it up.
