So with that in mind it's not surprising that Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub offered this, after learning that he drilled some poor woman named Sally Capehart with a wayward tee shot on the 17th hole at the Lake Tahoe Celebrity Championship: "I'm so sorry. I had no idea I hit somebody."
Fore! Better Duck for Cover
Matt Schaub may want to stick to throwing footballs. The Texans quarterback hit a woman with his tee shot at a Lake Tahoe celebrity golf tournament Sunday. "I'm so sorry. I had no idea I hit somebody," he told the fan. Click through for more incidents where golf spectators were caught in the crossfire.

Sept. 2008: Anthony Kim injured a spectator when he hit his drive off the unsuspecting fan's head during the third round of the Tour Championship. The man remained in good spirits, despite a big gash and a trip to the hospital.

April 2009: Actor Bill Murray was able to joke around with fan Gail DiMaggio afterward, but it was a scary sight at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am when she was knocked to the ground by one of Murray's tee shots. DiMaggio was taken to the hospital, but she was released the same day.

July 2007: In one of the uglier rounds in his major championship career, Tiger Woods hit a spectator with an errant 2-iron shot from the middle of the fairway. The woman was knocked down by the ball when Tiger sliced it at the British Open.

July 2007: Tiger wasn't the only golfer whose shot sailed astray in that tournament. Sergio Garcia's ball struck a Bloomberg photographer behind the left ear at the British Open, too.

May 2009: While aiming for the fairway at the Regions Charity Classic, Charles Barkley showed off the trademark hitch in his swing. The NBA legend lined one smack against the back of a spectator's neck. Watch Video

The inevitable followed:
Capehart, who may have suffered a concussion*, said that it was her first golf tournament but that she'd probably attend another "if I don't get hit in the head." Seems fair.
Texans fan and golfer Stephanie Stradley wants to pass along that Schaub usually hits it straight, which indicates to me that this is all David Carr's fault. There is a happy ending to this story, however: Schaub's ball ricocheted off Capehart's head and onto the green and he two-putted for par. Silver linings, people.

I was 5 feet away from this woman when she was hit. We were all watching the british open playoff on a big screen near the green. Schaub was really gracious and apologetic. She actually saved him about 3 strokes as his shot would have sailed way past the green.

I got drilled in the head a few times by a goof ball myself. It caused the B-9 mole on my 4-head to swell up another quarter inch or so. I have suffered a few small gashes in my bald head, but most of them are from bowling with it.

just because they are athletes doesn't make them a good golfer. I wouldn't trust these guys for 1 second. Any one of them could send a screamer into the crowd on any shot. You are definitely taking your life into your own hands by being in the gallery at one of these events.

Maybe they need to hand out Crash Helmets to the Fans when they get to the Course, Because this kind of thing Happens more often then People realize. I for one wouldn't give a Plug Nickle to go stand around all day At a Golf event But thats Just Me I dont care for Watching Golf on TV or Otherwise, It is boring only one Sport More Boring in My Opinion That Would Be BASEBALL If I can't sleep Ill just Turn on a Baseball Game and it will put me to sleep

You are obviously someone who has never played golf and are therefore not in a position to make much of an educated observation about why golfers play the game. Maybe you should try playing the game before knocking it.

Want to talk how bad Matt Schaub was with that... Look how bad TIGER WOODS was on the weekend..... He didn't even make to cut with the pros and he's considered the best. That's bull and Tiger proved it for everyone.

What makes people want people to stand around an area that is in range of 150+ mph quarter pound inch and a half spheres is beyond me and pay big bucks to do it especially at a pro am ? The am in that means that they dont do it for a living and maybe arent as accurate as pro. Wear proper protective eguipment people a hardhat and chest protector atleast.
