Tiger Woods Commits to Barclays

The FedEx Cup can shine again, as its prodigal son, Tiger Woods, has committed to the initial playoff tournament, the Barclays, which tees off next week.

Woods, who has five wins this season and leads the FedEx Cup, will be playing in the Barclays for the fifth time, and interestingly enough, has a t-13 as his best finish ever. It's one of just three PGA Tour events that Tiger has started more than three times and never won, joining the FBR Open and the Northern Trust Open.

No matter if he hasn't conquered this event yet, the executive director of the tournament is pumped.
"The Barclays has been an exciting kick-off to the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup each of the first two years. Having Tiger in the field this year will, no doubt, bring even more excitement to the tournament," said Peter Mele.
For all the talk of the bad year Tiger is having, it's nearly a given that he will be the PGA Tour Player of the Year, win the FedEx Cup, and card five or more victories for the fourth time in five seasons (he only won four events last year because the knee injured shortened his season considerably).

Woods joins 124 of 125 players in the FedEx Cup point standings that have committed to the event, with Tom Watson being the only one not yet nodding his head to the Barclays. Woods will be making his first appearance since the loss to Y.E. Yang at the PGA Championship, the first time in Tiger's career that he couldn't hold on to win a major he was leading after 54 holes.

A win at Liberty National, and it will be four wins in Tiger's last six tournaments.
