Three Tied at Deutsche Bank

An old golf saying goes, simply, "there are no pictures on the scorecard." This means that it doesn't matter how you get there, the score is all that matters.

The leaders at the Deutsche Bank Championship are perfect examples of this. Steve Stricker was the leader after the first day, with a 8-under 63, but struggled in the second round to a 72. His third round 65 on Sunday has him at 13-under, along with Retief Goosen (65-67-68) and Sean O'Hair (66-64-70). All three leaders have won on tour this year, and all three will be battling to take control of the FedEx Cup after two weeks.

Nipping at the heels of the three veterans is 25-year-old Kevin Na, who is still searching for his first PGA Tour win. A Nationwide Tour and Asian Tour, but hasn't been able to break through with the big boys. Na, ranked a very respectable 22 on the FedEx Cup points list, went a similar route to O'Hair, turning pro early and taking years before he could finally compete.

Who isn't going to be winning this week are the two biggest names in golf, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Tiger made four bogeys on Sunday, shooting a 1-over 72 as he struggled to find the putting surface in regulation (hitting only 56 percent of the greens). Lefty's third round 72 left him at 2-under, 11 shots back of the leaders.

TPC Boston has been yielding low numbers all week, so the leaders will have to go low for one more day. Nine players are within three shots, with another eight two shots back of those, so the trophy is still up for grabs. Players out of the top-70 on the FedEx Cup will be out for next week's BMW Championship, so anyone out will need a good showing to keep their year going.
