Tiger Woods Runs Away From Field at BMW Championship

Don't worry, everyone. That Tiger Woods guy you used to know and love? Yeah, he's back. We found him. He was hiding at a public golf course named Cog Hill, awaiting a chance to lap a field that didn't seem to be playing the same course as he was.

Tied for the lead going into Saturday's third round, Tiger shot a 9-under 62, the course record, and moved seven shots ahead of the closest "competition." A day after the athlete Tiger is most compared to, Michael Jordan, was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Tiger showed just how dominant he can be when the game is tuned. After a bogey on the first hole of his day, Tiger went on to make eight birdies and an eagle over his next 17 holes, putting up a 62 a week after he closed with 63 at TPC Boston.

How on fire was Tiger with his irons? He hit 10 shots inside of 15 feet on Saturday, three more than he combined to hit that close the first two days. On the par-5 9th hole, Tiger hit a 3-wood from 270 yards to about 10 feet, rolling in the putt for eagle and he never turned back.

The 62 was a shot off his lowest round on the PGA Tour, and was the lowest round he's shot since the second round of the 2005 Buick Open.

Unless someone kidnaps Tiger, he will roll on Sunday to his sixth win of the season, take the lead in the FedEx Cup points race and be staring down another Player of the Year award. Some might say the year was a touch disappointing since Tiger didn't win a major championship, but after knee surgery, he could easily end the season with seven victories in 17 starts. Not too shabby, even for Mr. Woods.
