The Green Jacket: Best Tweeter of '09

Over the next two weeks, FanHouse will be delivering any and all awards for the 2009 PGA and LPGA Tour season. It will be a collection of anything that needs to be awarded, from Player of the Year, to Best Shot of '09 to Breakthrough Twitterer. It is, simply named, The Green Jacket awards.

Ahh, Twitter. The current Internet sensation. Google and Facebook, all wrapped in one 140 character text band that allows people to chat up just about any subject (even though it seems most subjects revolve around Jay-Z).

This year has been a banner one for Twitter, with athletes by the busload joining the site and sharing info we have never received from athletes. (Want proof? I stalked Shaquille O'Neal once because of his Twitter, and wrote about it.)

The PGA and LPGA Tour have been no different, with golfers from all over sharing photos of themselves working out, their random hairstyles and even the enjoyment of a pro-am round. So, who is the best Tweeter of '09?

That goes to Stewart Cink, the 2009 British Open champion who has nearly a million followers and has shared anything from how he is enjoying the Claret Jug after the victory to his David Letterman "Top Ten" list before he delivered it.

Cink goes out of his way to reply to any and all commenters, and does a good job about including everyone with information on tour that we'd never get. Sure, Ian Poulter's Twitter is tough to beat, but Cink was the first to kill it and it seems he really likes the ability to interact with his fans. Hell, even Cink's wife, Lisa, has 1,500 followers!

It helped his cause when he won the British, adding nearly 300,000 followers since that time, but even before that he was an interesting fellow.

So, Cink is your Green Jacket winner for best Tweeter. Here is hoping he @replies about the award.

Update: And why is he the best? Cink already replied about winning the award -- "@shanebacon aww shucks you shouldn't have.."
