Nothing sucks worse than getting beat by a guy you think you should handle. In golf, that can happen in the worst of ways, like having an overweight 50-something take you out or some guy that looks like he's barely touched Golf Pride in his life on the first tee.Or, in the words of Robert Allenby, you could get beat by a guy 5 and 3 that "Get(s) home at 4 o'clock (in the morning) and then go shoot 6-under." Yep, that is what Allenby said of Anthony Kim after the American's singles match victory over Allenby on Sunday at the Presidents Cup. According to Allenby, Kim was seen returning to the hotel at 4AM early Sunday morning, five hours before his tee off time and, well, drunker than a skunk.
Allenby wasn't amused, and lashed out at the 24-year-old Kim.
"Maybe we should all take the theory of Anthony Kim," Allenby said. "Get home at 4 o'clock (in the morning) and then go shoot 6 under."Kim vehemently denied the claims, saying Allenby's quotes were "absolutely false," but it wouldn't be surprising in the least if Anthony was out on the town. Like the saying goes, your past will always haunt you, and Kim was known as a partier for much of his early PGA Tour career.
Asked if his comments were on the record, Allenby said, "I don't care. Ask his playing partners. Ask his team. He is the loosest cannon in that team."
Allenby went on to call the 24-year-old Kim golf's "current John Daly."

So how did Kim handle the comments from Allenby, who also admitted he was "pissed off that I lost to him. Maybe I should have gone out with him,"?
"If Robert had that to say," Kim said, "he may need to go practice a little bit more."I think that response deserves a very stiff drink for Mr. Kim. Well played, sir. Very well played, on both fronts.

I lost a lot of respect for Allenby.
Golf is a gentlemen's game. If Allenby can't lose with dignity, then he should find a new profession. Kim beat him 5 & 3, which isn't just a loss, it's a whipping. Allenby is just upset that he lost and let his team down. His comments brought disgrace not only to himself, but also his team. He should take a lesson in sportsmanship from V.J. Singh. Shame on Allenby for bringing disgrace to such a dignified game.
Allenby is an older guy whose comments are to be taken that Kim needs adult mentorship, not sour grapes.
John Daly started on this very path... some folks say let them do it their way which is absolutely fine... just don't whine or feel sorry for poor old Anthony Kim when he implodes like Daly did and you did nothing to help.. it is called tough love to get involved... some even call it leadership.
Allenby wants the kid with that much talent to respect the game and respect the talent god gave him... Allenby has a very comfortable life and outside of being a good human being doesn't really care if Kim self destructs or not.
Your comments of Allenby being a "bad loser" shows an ugly side of humanity (yours).

If that is true then Kim needs to get some help. If he wants to do that on his own time that's one thing, but in this tournament he is playing for his country and his team members. He is such a charming young man, but these things have taken down lots of great golfers.

What part of 5 and 3 don't you get. That is an a## whuppin' in anybody's book. If he has a problem with alcohol, I hope he addresses it sooner than later. If he continues to hang beatings of this magnitude on opponents of the USA, GOOD ON YA' MATE!

As a good friend of mine (PGA caddy) said last year, "Anthony Kim is a big fan of the Walker Cup" unfortunately be meant the Johnny Walker cup.
It is well known that AK and Adam Scott have given up on working at their game, instead they are looking for game, i.e. female game.
PGA Tour member, Presidents Cup Team member, hung over and chasing women..then goes out and shoots six under par, kicks his opponents butt and you're reaction is he's chasing women. I think you miss the point that a golfer got his hat handed to him as he was walking out the door started whining about getting beat. Remember the Ryder Cup and how the U.S. was "condemned" by the European team for their behavior? So what is the difference here? None, the European team loses and ONCE again, whines about it.
Leave Adam and Anthony alone - They are young and should be having fun on tour. Whether it's drinking or "chasing women." They work hard and should be able to blow off steam, just like you did when you were young. At least they aren't going off to clubs and blowing off their leg like Plaxico Burress or engaging in anything illegal like Michael Vick, athletes that people like you seem to idolize. And you probably also shouldn't believe every thing you hear or read. All you are doing is projecting or displacing your jealously on to these men and wishing that you had an iota of their talent, money and looks.

Amen. It'd be one thing to pop off if he had just throttled Kim but dude got his arse handed to him and is bringing out the sour grapes. But when you're Robert Allenby this is the only way you can get noticed because it's been a while since he won anything.
Kim has apparently earned his reputation. Whether or not Allenby's account is accurate we'll never know. However, I was as surprised as Allenby that Kim took him out rather easily. Allenby has played extremely well at times as was putting lights out on Saturday. That was one match I thought would go the Internationals way. As for Kim, the jury is still out on if he has any staying power. He had a great year last year, but did not follow it up. Having said that... between the Ryder Cup and Predidents Cup, he is establishing himself as a solid team mate.
If it true, I will have lost much respect for Kim!! He has to be confronted by the PGA leadership---Allenby should have had a talk with Kim in a gentleman-like fashion- He should not have told anybody at first- What a jerk???
