The Florida Highway Patrol announced Tuesday it would not be pursuing an investigation into the Tiger Woods accident last week.
Woods was issued a "careless driving citation," however, but that's a relative slap on the wrist and essentially the equivalent of Tiger driving around Orlando without his seatbelt. Most importantly, perhaps, the FHP stated that "there are no claims of domestic violence by any individual."
Woods faces a fine of up to $164 and four points against his driver's license.

Earlier in the press conference, FHP Major Cindy Williams told a news conference in Orlando:
The Florida Highway Patrol has concluded its investigation of the vehicle crash involving Mr. Tiger Woods. The investigation has determined that Mr. Woods is at fault in the crash. This afternoon, FHP issued a uniform traffic citation for careless driving to Mr. Woods.
Any person operating a vehicle upon the streets and highways within the state is required by law to drive in a careful and prudent manner so as not to endanger the life, limb, or property of any person. Failure to drive in such a manner is defined as careless driving. Careless driving is a moving violation and upon conviction may result in a fine of $164 and four points on a driver's record.

is it possible to donate towards his $164 fine? poor guy might not have it...
Who cares!!!! Everyone somewhere in this country has a car accident everyday. What makes Tiger so different????
Slow day in the news I guess. Give reporters a "Dopey" prize for trivial and uninteresting news. Now... can we all move on and stop hating the famous, wealthy and successful?
Hey Joe Weiss- "Everyone" has an accident "everyday?? I've been driving over 40 years and haven't had one yet. I do know several others that do not have accidents everyday, or even ever.
If Tiger contests the citation, who from the Florida Highway Patrol could testify in support of the citation. None of them witnessed the accident and any testimony would be hearsay, not admissible. Tiger goes free. Besides, isn't his home area private property? How does the FHP have any jurisdiction?
I wondered this myself. If it occurs on private property, how is it possible to receive a citation. The police in my town won't issue a ticket in the grocery store parking lot due to it being private property.

-----------------------------I see you got your law degree in a box of crackerjax. Just because it's a gated community, it still isn't his property. There were witnesses who heard the crash and found Woods laying in the street. Ever hear of circumstancial evidence? He would never beat the ticket, counselor.
He hit a fire hydrant - I don't believe that is personal property. If I hit a fire hydrant, I would get a ticket and have to pay for repairs to the hydrant!!!!!!
is florida a state and the answer is florida state patrol is a state agency they can go anywhere in the state
Snarker, your stupidity amazes me. Crawl back under the rock you live under.
Wreck one car and this what you get? Glad my golf is where its at.......
He should lose it all .I guess Tiger is not so clean imaged after all , LOSER
I don't think this was handled appropriately, or if it was, we are not being given all the information. If this were to happen to any other individual, the police would have demanded a blood alcohol level and a urine toxicology screen. How many people would be taken at their word or the word of their wife stating "that no alcohol was involved." With Tiger being in and out of consciousness, there was no way they could do a breathalyzer test nor a field sobriety test. Therefore, the blood alcohol and urine toxicology screen should have been done, ESPECIALLY since he would not give an explanation. He is getting away easy on this. And it is not appropriate, because he being the role model that he is, he is giving our children the message that they can get away with anything if they achieve celebrity status. In fact, he should be held accountable to a much higher level of honesty and openness than the rest of the population. My son, a high school senior and golfer who idolizes Tiger, sides with Tiger and thinks this is none of anyone's business.
Of course, with President Obama having said that the police officer who arrested the Harvard law professor "acted stupidly" when they followed proper protocol during their investigation this past summer, it is clear that white police offers must have to be extremely careful not to upset a black celebrity, lest the public pull the race card into the equation.
Obviously, ocicilioni, you have issues. Don't subject the rest of us to them. As the wife of a FHP Sgt with nearly 30 years service I'll help you to sleep easy tonight. One, there was a trooper on the scene who assessed that Woods wasn't under the influence. Believe it or not an experienced professional, which you are not, is able to do that just by the two of the five senses, sight and smell. If he/she had any question a BAC (blood alcohol level) would have been ordered. Also, the trooper is well within his/her rights by Florida law to ask the emergency room personnel for the results of any BAC they did as part of the diagnostic procedure.
Second, this incident for anyone else would have been investigated and wrapped up in about two hours. My husband said in similar cases he's had he didn't even write a citation. Single vehicle with no serious injuries to anyone else, no DUI, open shut.
Woods is an athlete, if you call golf a real sport, if your son idolizes him then you did a poor job of parenting. He should idolize you, but based on your level of ignorance I can see why he doesn't.
U really shouldn't post - the white sheet over your head is showing...
AMEN to this....the average Joe would have been in jail...class discrimination!
wtf??? what is up with this Will Brinson? This golfer got the typical fine first time offenders usually get when there is no one else injured in the crash and even when there are people injured. Did Brinson want him to get prison time? That would be unusual. Brinson, move on. This is not real news.
Um, why would his wife need to smash out a back window? I heard the window was smashed BEFORE the accident and that his wife had scratched his face. Maybe thats why he doesn't want to meet with the po po. Sounds like ole Tiger got caught swinging with the wrong clubs.
Maybe he's waiting for the wounds to heal before he comes out with his BS story.
Hey, I wonder if Tiger's wife used a driver or did she play it safe with a 3 wood?
You Nailed it. Or was it Tiger who nailed it?
