Golf In the Olympics -- Hooray?

SAN FRANCISCO -- The world's greatest golfers awoke Friday to news they can now be Olympians.

Somewhere the ancient Greeks are weeping. What's worse, somewhere the modern Chinese are working on a Human Golf Hormone drug.

Their orders are to seize any child who resembles Tiger Woods, pump him full of top-secret Birdie Juice and bring home the gold in 2016 from Rio de Janeiro.

Duh! Golfers Approve of Golf in Olympics

SAN FRANCISCO -- To absolutely no surprise, news that golf will return as an Olympic sport at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Games was welcomed by golfers.

"I think it's great for golf," Tiger Woods said Friday morning before beginning play at the Presidents Cup. "It's a perfect fit for the Olympics and I think we are all looking forward to golf getting into the Olympics."

Golf was last an Olympic sport at the 1904 Games in St. Louis, when the United States and Canada were the only two competing countries.

Tiger Says Olympics Should Be Hosted on Public Golf Course


In 2016, barring anything crazy, golf will be in the Olympics for the first time since 1904. With that news, comes some decisions, centered around where the event should be hosted and how it should be handled.

Tiger Woods, asked on Wednesday about the Olympics, said he thinks the events would best be represented on a public golf course.
